1.     What was the age and relationship of your reading partner to you? What did you read to them? Describe the typical meeting: Where did you read, when, how long?
The ages of the children I read to were around 10 and 11. The boys were a little harder to get to pay attention but the girls were pretty easy. One had the same name as me so I call her mini me and she calls me bigger me. I read them, "The Giving Tree", "The Magic School Bus: Inside The Human Body", "The Butterfly" and "Angels in the Dust". We read in the upstairs part of the Library on every Tuesday and Thursday for two hours starting at 9:20 till 11:30.
2.     How did your relationship change as you went along? What did you learn about that person that you didn't already know? Has your Partner's attitude toward reading changed?
The relationship between my partners and me changed a lot. As I kept reading to them every Tues. and Thurs. we got along way better each time and they wanted to keep reading everytime we finsihed. I learned a lot about my parteners expecially, Daniel, I did not know that he could not read english words very well since he is fluent in Spainsh. So every time I read to him, I had him read a page in english to help him learn and get better at it. I believe their attitudes did change about reading because I made it fun for them instead of thinking of its boring to read.
3.     What did you learn about yourself that you didn't already know? How has your attitude changed toward reading, especially reading aloud?
I learned that I do read fast when I read aloud and that effects how pronounce words. My attitude towards reading did not change I have always liked reading, I just never liked reading aloud but I feel more comfortable reading aloud now after the program.
4. What was the best thing you experienced about this Read Aloud Project?
The best thing I experienced in this project was getting to know the kids and spending my time with the kids and teaching them new things and to some review some lessons. The best part was when I was teaching Daniel some english words and at the end he got better at pronouncing words.
5. What surprised you about this project?
That each time the students came, they were excited to be there and read. In my mind I thought they would be rough and not want to learn anything or read, but I was wrong. They loved the program and did not want to leave the last day.
6. Explain why you will or will not read aloud again.
I will read again aloud to kids or anyone, because it is fun if you make it fun. If you go into things thinking oh its going to bad and boring, it will. If you go into things thinking this is going to fun, Im going to make some fun activities to do, it will be fun for both you and your partner.
